After Treatment
After Completion of Endodontic Treatment
Your endodontic treatment has been completed and the root canal system has been permanently sealed. In many cases, the outer surface of the tooth is temporarily sealed until your restorative dentist places the final restoration. To protect your tooth from fracture and decay, please contact your restorative dentist to schedule a follow-up appointment. A complete report of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist for coordinated care.
A tooth can be more prone to fracture immediately after endodontic treatment, especially if it has a large filling or weakened structure. Please chew on the opposite side until your restorative dentist places a core build-up and a protective restoration, often a crown. In some cases, a post may be recommended to help support the tooth. Your restorative dentist and endodontist will determine the restoration that best protects your tooth.
